Penne translates to the word “pen”, and gets its name from its shape – a short cylinder-shaped pasta that has angled edges. Penne Rigate pairs nicely with chunky meat, chunky vegetable, cream, or oil based sauces. Also, these shapes are great for baking dishes.
Preparation instructions: for a perfect cooking use 6 quarters of water per 1 lb of pasta. Bring water to a boil. Add salt to taste. Add pasta to boiling water. Stir from time to time. Cook for 9 minutes, drain and season.
